You may notice that your teeth can discolour over time, which can be due to some of our old favourites such as coffee, tea, red wine, curries and pastas. Essentially anything that could stain a white shirt can ultimately lead to darkening of your teeth.
There are several procedures which can whiten your teeth. Whitening is a chemical process used to bleach or “oxidise” your tooth.
At tooth dental, we have three different techniques which can be used to whiten your teeth:
- Zoom! In-office whitening
- Custom Take Home Whitening Trays
Zoom!
Up to 8 shades whiter teeth in 1 hour
Philips Zoom uses light activated technology for better teeth whitening results. Clinically proven to whiten teeth up to 8 shades in 1 hour, our LED technology is 40% more effective than non-light activated systems.
Our whitening procedure has been perfected through years of experience to give you the whitest teeth the safest possible way. Your gums are carefully protected with a special covering before your dental professional applies our unique hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down the molecular bonds making up stains on and in your teeth. The intense light of the Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed Whitening LED Accelerator shining on the whitening gel makes the process work even faster, improving whitening results by as much as 40%.
The safest way to whiter teeth
Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a Philips Zoom trained and accredited dentist not only gives you the whitest teeth, it’s also very safe. Zoom is the only whitening formula that contains relief ACP, which actually gives you greater luster and helps protects enamel. As a result, the Philips Zoom tooth whitening treatment has no adverse effect on existing restorations (fillings or crowns) nor does it rub away, soften, damage or weaken the enamel
Keeping side effects to a minimum
Some people may experience temporary increased tooth sensitivity to cold during or after treatment. These symptoms disappear within 1-3 days after completion of the treatment. The temporary sensitivity can be minimal for some while others may find it to be similar to ice-cream sensitivity. Your dental professional will advise you on any side effects and might administer fluoride gel to help minimise any temporary sensitivity.
Take home whitening
Impressions are taken of your upper and lower teeth and customised trays made. You can choice from two different concentrations in whitening gel – a 30 minute (day) or five hours (overnight) More Info
It is important to have your teeth examined before you whiten your teeth, because whitening works best on teeth that have been recently cleaned. If you would like any more information, or would like to book an appointment, please contact our friendly staff on (07) 3366 1737.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
