Meet Dr. Louise Waldie, or Dr. Lou as we like to call her. She’s an Ashgrove local through and through, from her school days to raising her kids right here in the community.
Dr. Lou is backed by an all-star crew of legends: Dr. Sophia Frankcombe, Dr. Jana Currall, Dr. Jodie Elliot, Dr. Astin Friskin, and Dr. Beth Keir. Plus, our fabulous Oral Health Therapists Madi, Eliza, and Jess, along with our ace Hygienist Mandy, are here to make sure you get top-notch care.
We’re all about keeping those smiles bright and healthy! From the very first chair ride to the braces phase and beyond, we’re here for every step of your dental journey. Our skilled team offers everything from wisdom tooth removals and dental implant restorations to crowns, bridges, orthodontics, Invisalign, root canals, and composite fillings.
We absolutely love being part of the Ashgrove community! That’s why we visit local daycare centers and kindergartens to teach kids about dental health in a fun way. We also support local sports teams (like GPS rugby and soccer) and school events (like St. Finbarr’s Fashion Parade and the Oakleigh State School Fete). We’re proud to be your go-to dental team, making smiles brighter and our community stronger!
Our Practice
Welcome to our dental journey! We first opened the doors to Tooth 1.0 in June 2015, but by late 2022, we were ready for a glow-up and moved just two doors down to Tooth 2.0. Think of it like a beautiful plant outgrowing its pot—we needed a bigger space to keep thriving!
Even though we’ve moved to a swankier spot, the core of who we are hasn’t changed. We still have the same incredible team, the same values, and of course, the same dad jokes. We’ve just upgraded our “pot” to one that lets us grow and flourish even more.
Our new and improved space means more appointment slots with less waiting time for you. Plus, we’re excited to introduce our “Queens of the Clean” team—Oral Health Therapists Madi, Eliza, Jess and our fabulous Hygienist Mandy. They’re here to focus on pediatrics, prevention, and gum health. But don’t worry, you’ll still see your favorite dentist for check-ups and all your dental treatments.
We’ve decked out our practice with top-of-the-line Planmeca dental chairs, which Dr. Lou affectionately calls the “golden marshmallow” for their unbeatable comfort. Our digital radiographs offer a lower radiation dose, and with our OPG and Lat-Ceph machines on-site, convenience is key. You can even zone out with a movie and noise-canceling headphones while we work. For those who need a little extra TLC, we offer a serene patient lounge and nitrous oxide (happy gas) to keep things calm and cozy.

Dr Lou has a passion for working with anxious patients and children. She creates a positive, stress-free experience so they love visiting the dentist.
Dr. Sophia Frankcombe
Dr Sophia is a caring and compassionate clinician. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is most enthusiastic about the overall health and wellbeing of her patients.
Dr. Beth Keir
Dr Beth is an excellent family dentist with a fun, caring attitude. She is dedicated to educating children and families about healthy oral health habits for life.
Dr. Astin Friskin
Drawing on her diverse clinical experience, Dr Astin enjoys working together with her patients to provide a high standard of dental care individualised to best suit their needs.
Dr. Jana Currall
Tooth Dental is so excited to welcome back the wonderful Dr Jana Currall! Dr Jana is returning in January 2022 after four years living in Perth and Sydney with her family.
Dr. Jodie Elliot
Dr Jodie always new she wanted to work in health care and help people. Dr Jodie has been working in private practices around Brisbane for over 14 years.
Location
We are conveniently located on the corner of Waterworks Road and Stewart Road, across from the Ashgrove War Memorial.
Our practice is less than 5km from the city, and is easily accessed by public transport.
We also have undercover parking available for our patients, which is accessed by a driveway on Stewart Road.
There is ample space for wheelchairs and prams, and we are completely accessible by ramp.

We believe that prevention is the key to maintaining a healthy mouth and body. We love to look after you and your family from the first ride in the chair, through the awkward braces years, and into adulthood and beyond. Our highly skilled dentists offer a full range of services from wisdom tooth removal, placement and restoration of dental implants, crown and bridge, orthodontics and invisalign, root canal treatment and composite resin restorations. Our dentists strive to be up to date with the latest techniques and technologies through continuing education to provide you with the best possible care.
It is a prerequisite that our dentists are highly skilled at making balloon creations! We want your children will have a fun and memorable experience and love coming to visit the dentist. We also have a dedicated kids corner in our waiting room with a duplo wall and letterbox for the tooth fairy.
