From 1 January 2026, Tooth Dental will no longer be part of HCF’s More for Teeth program. We know you may have some questions, so here are the most common ones answered:
💳 Financial & Rebates
Q: Can I still claim with HCF if I come to Tooth Dental?
Yes – you can continue to claim your rebate through HCF as usual. The difference is that there will be a gap payment.
Q: How much will my rebate change?
Your rebate amount will depend on your level of HCF cover. Most patients will still receive a rebate; however, there may now be a gap payment. We’re happy to provide itemised quotes so you know exactly what to expect.
Q: Will all treatments cost more now?
Not necessarily. Major treatments (like fillings, crowns or root canals) were never fully covered under “More for Teeth.” The change mainly affects preventive services like check-ups, cleans, X-rays, and fluoride.
🦷 Insurance & Alternatives
Q: Should I change health funds?
That’s a personal decision. We are not affiliated with any one fund, so you’re free to choose the cover and healthfund that best suits you. The Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends a great, nonbiased healthfund comparison website Fair Health Care
Q: Are you still partnered with other funds?
We remain independent, which means we can provide care without being restricted by health fund contracts. This allows us to focus on the best treatment for you. More information on being an independant, non preferred provider dentist: What We’re Not
🤝 Why This Change?
Q: Why are you leaving the program?
Over time, health fund rebates have not kept pace with rising practice and dental care costs, and are now significantly less than the industry average. Infact in some cases, HCF rebates are now less than in 2015! Unfortunately, in order to maintain the quality of care, technology, and time we dedicate to our patients, we are unable to align ourselves with HCF’s More for Teeth program.
🩺 Patient Care
Q: Will my care or treatment change?
Not at all. The same dentists, hygienists, and team you know and trust will continue to look after you.
Q: Are your prices increasing?
No – this change is not related to a fee increase. Our fees are reviewed annually, but leaving the program is about fairness and sustainability, not about raising prices.
📅 Timing & Bookings
Q: When does this start?
From 1 January 2026. Appointments before this date will still receive the current More for Teeth rebate.
Q: How do I know what I’ll pay now?
We can provide a quote with item numbers, and you can check your exact rebate with HCF. Our front desk team is also happy to run a HICAPS quote for you.
✅ Still unsure? Our friendly team can talk you through your options and help you get the most from your cover.
